You run the installation as adminstrator. There have been many posts on various forums about copying certain files and manually registering various files but IMO that is needless if I think the important thing is that Quicken 2004 installation has to be "run as administrator" rather than as normal. Includes CleanQIF which corrects of date and bad character problems people have with the QIF files that Quicken Mac and below creates.

I had previously successfully installed Quicken from a hard drive in my trial and error sessions, see below, so that might be what caused the licence renewal problem. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and, after a bit of trial and error, I successfully installed Quicken 2004.
